Dear Sonoe,
We are a couple from Barcelona (Spain) who are coming to Japan on holidays this next August. We are so excited!!!!!!
We are planning the places to visit, where to stay and so on and we are decided to go to an onsen.
We have seen many recommendations about Chojukan Hoshi Onsen. Do you know how can we contact this place in order to bok a room to stay at night there on line? We cannot find any e-mail address.
Do you think this is a good place to go?
Thank you very much in advance for your recommendations!

Hi there,
Thank you for your post. Good to know that you are visiting Japan. Welcome!
Chojukan is great.
If you want to experience a traditional japanese-style inn with a great onsen, this is the place to go.
But, it is in the middle of nowhere.
If you want to stroll the town, go out for a drink in the night, you might want to find some other ryokan in an onsen town.
I could only find Chojukan's phone number and fax number....
tel: 0278-66-0005
fax: 0278-66-0003
Hope this helps.

Dear Sonoe,
Our friends Yukichi and Etsuko took us (family) to Houshi Onsen... a wonderful experience ! Good water. Unfortunately only 24hours but so relaxing, beautiful traditional buildings, forest setting (as you said, middle of nowhere), delicious food...onsen is very relaxing. Outside at night soaking up to my chin with snow melting on my bald head. Great .

Dear Sonoe, I'd like to ask if you could suggest a town & an accomodation for us - we are a family of 4, my husband and two teen boys will be in Tokyo in July, but would later like to take one of the Shinkansen to some distance of about 2 or 3 hours away, and stay at a traditional inn. We would like a tatami room, but we'd like a private bath in the room that uses "onsen" water, and also a private toilet. Breakfast and dinner would also be nice, if available. Please advise us as there is too much to research on this topic. Thank you!
